Rectangles, described earlier as solid and comforting, modernize by adjusting their placement and line density. This combination allows for both stability and a bit of uniqueness. Rectangles work well throughout this potential layout in slightly different combinations, for buttons, navigation, and for highlighting content. Rectangles can convey a fresh look for a traditional organization.

 

 

Shape - groups of lines and blocks of text combine to become shapes. Determining line and text use, as individual elements, supports the design concept. Discern what language individual elements create what language their shape communicates. Do you think serious, whimsical, bizarre, intent, interesting, hopeful, honest, comical, safe, or free? What shapes culturally remind users of the client's purpose? What combinations of line, space, and type make up the shape?

 

Shapes appear to have height and weight. They may form a picture or simply suggest something familiar. Try to stay away from clichés, let the shapes and their parts communicate your story. Simple shapes often create good layouts that don't look stale within a few months. Try different combinations of shape and space. Try different kinds of line and type to create a shape. Line, type, and shape hold the power to change how users interact with your product. Utilize them to your advantage.
